Ruiton’s windmills have little documented history that has survived and census records, marriage records and baptism records can be quite conflicting when you consider back in the 19th century, many sons were named after their fathers and it was common that parents had numerous children, many of which didn’t live for long. This timeline centres around George Richmond who built the New Ruiton Windmill that we still see today.
